"Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite." (Psalms 147:5 NIV)
I have an elderly friend who asked me to teach her how to use a computer. Her idea of a mouse is a little furry creature that eats cheese. Windows are something she cleans on Tuesdays, and surfing the net invokes ideas of a day at the beach. In other words, she doesn't know a thing about computers.
But, that's O.K. She has spent time teaching me things about life and most importantly, about eternal life. The least I can do is afford her a few hours of computer training. She is someone very important to me and I enjoyed showing her "the basics."
We finished my tutorial and I began to explain how to shut down the computer. My exact instructions were...."First click on the 'Start' button in the lower left hand of your computer screen."
"But you said we were going to quit," she replied.
"Yes, I know. Click on the 'Start' button in the lower left hand corner."
"Huh? Are you sure? That doesn't make sense. I want to quit and you say to click 'Start."
My response was, "Trust me. I've been doing this a long time. I know what I am doing."
You know, sometimes we interact with God like that. In fact, a lot like that. Take for instance, when God tells us to do something that just doesn't make sense to us. When He tells us to do something like that, to our minds it seems backwards. How do we respond?
"Huh? Are you sure? That doesn't make sense."
Maybe today you are facing one of those times. Perhaps God has instructed you to give something that seems like it is too great to give.
Know what God says to us?
"Trust me. I've been doing this a long time. I know what I'm doing."
