"However, as it is written: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God," (1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV)
I am a planner, I always have been and I probably always will be. That sometimes makes it very difficult because I have no idea what God's plan is for me and my life. Not being able to act according to a plan or blueprint is difficult for me to accept.
Chronic pain and illness don't follow a blueprint or a plan either. Often times we are left floundering; waiting for test results, waiting for treatments, waiting to wait. I don't know about you, but that is one of the hardest things for me. I am not one to just sit back and accept things as they are. While sometimes that is a very good trait, other times it can lead to trouble.
One of the many things that illness has taught me is that God has a plan. He has an individual plan for each of us. That plan, however, isn't easily read, figured out or even known by us sometimes. We have to trust that God has prepared and conceived a plan for our lives and that ultimately it will be revealed to us. It may come to us in pieces; through our actions, through our work, through our prayers or it may never be known to us until we meet Him face-to-face. We need to trust (as difficult as that is) that God knows what He is doing. In trusting, I am sure we will find that the plan He has for our lives will be revealed. I pray for that revelation every day.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, in your wisdom and grace reveal to us the plan you have for our individual lives. Send forth the Holy Spirit to enlighten us and guide us in our search to fulfill Your purpose for our lives. Amen.
