"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my
ways," declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your
thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)
I am often "fuddled" (to use one of my mom's favorite words) when I
try to understand the way the Lord works in my life. I do believe
that every prayer we send up is answered. I've found though, that
the answers are most often not what I expect or foresee or sometimes
even really want, if I am honest about it.
Lord, when I pray and ask for healing, I usually mean physical
healing, but You have often gifted me with emotional healing. I ask
for relief and You have time and again shown me someone who needs my
prayers. I ask for help. You say, "Fear not, I am with You." I say
I am afraid and You tell me to seek Your face.
The hardest answers are the ones that seem to say "No" or "Not now,
not yet", the ones that tell me to "wait" and "not lose heart." No
Lord, I do not understand Your ways.
Trusting You is oft times the most difficult thing I have ever done.
Yet, You have brought me to the place where it is the only thing I
can do: knowing I have no power on my own, but must abide in You.
Would I come to this realization without my illnesses, pain, grief
and loss?
What a relief to know I can place it all in Your hands, and at the
proper time, the answers will come and they will come perfectly
designed for my life.
